Computer Currents
Originally published as Computer Classifieds in California in 1983. The magazine was renamed Computer Currents in 1984. It was a initially distributed in northern California but spread across the country through a franchise system. There were versions in Atlanta (1987), Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston (1988), and Chicago (1993). By 1987 there were also editions being published for southern California, Austin, New York, and Boston.
The magazine was being published biweekly in the San Francisco bay area and monthly in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Texas, and Atlanta. The media kit for the magazine reported an audited monthly circulation of 612,000 readers.
In 2000 the magazine was acquired and merged into Computer User. Wikipedia Article
Surprisingly while the magazine appears to have been very successful there is almost no trace of it currently found online. This is likely because of the large size of the magazine. Slightly over 12“ x 10” meaning it must be scanned with a large format scanner. It was also printed on newsprint instead of glossy paper.
I was fortunate to find a small batch of the Boston version of the magazine which are now available on archive.org
